Select a Story

Navigate to your Story Dashboard by selecting "My Verse" at the top of the web page.

Then, select the story you'd like to edit. You'll be taken to the chosen story's Story Editor.

Next, click on "Publish Settings" at the bottom left of the Story Editor.

The "Publish Settings" panel will open.

Prepare to Publish

On the Story Dashboard, you'll need to make sure all your Chapters in the "Chapters" panel are ready to publish, which is indicated by a green dot next to their title as seen below.

If any outstanding issues need to be fixed prior to publishing, it will be indicated in a blue alert panel as shown below.

Author

The Author is the name that appears below the Story's title when you hover over the Player. In the screenshot below, the author is "Verse Admin". This name is also used for attribution in social media posts.

By default, the "Author" field is populated with the name you've entered in your Verse Account. To change it for a particular story, click on the "Author" field and start typing.

Password

If you set a password in the "Password" field, the story becomes private and requires users to enter the password before viewing.

By default, the password is hidden from view, even as you type. To show the password, click on the "eye" icon. To remove the password and make the Story public, clear the Password field by clicking on the "X" icon.

Allowed Embed URL

The "Allowed Embed URL" determines which domains will be allowed to embed your project. You'll need to separate multiple domains with a comma.

Custom Sharing URL

The "Custom Sharing URL" field allows you to override the URL used in social media posts when users share this Story. Please note that all social tags and metadata will be pulled from the destination URL when using this feature, so you'll need to ensure that information is present and correct on the destination page.

The "Custom Sharing URL" is also the URL used for the logo at the top left corner of this Story's Player.

Social Summary

Use the "Social Story Summary" field to enter a description of the Story. This synopsis appears in social media snippets when viewers share the Story. The summary must be 280 characters or less.

Enable Ads

The "Enable Ads" setting enables pre-roll and interstitial advertisements within your project begins. You must have a Premium level account in order to access this feature.

Click the switch button on the right to toggle this feature on or off.

Click the "Select a Tag" dropdown and choose a tag. To add a new tag or edit existing Tags, click "Manage Ad Tags".

Player Style

The "Player Style" setting allows you to select a Custom Player for this Story. Learn more about this feature in the Add a Custom Player to a Story article.

Custom Sharing Image

The "Sharing Image" is the image that is associated with social media posts when viewers share the Story. By default, the Sharing Image is a still pulled from your Story's Cover Video.

You can set a custom Sharing Image by clicking "Custom Sharing Image". The Sharing Image will appear. To replace it, click "Select Image".

Story Category

You can assign one or multiple categories to your Story. To do so, click on "Story Category". A text field will appear. Clicking on it will show a dropdown listing all available categories. The text field itself allows you to search through these categories.

You can select categories one at a time. Each category you've selected will appear within a blue box. Clicking the "X" will remove the corresponding category.

Publish a Story

When your Story is ready to publish and there are no outstanding issues, a "Publish Public Story" option will appear at the top of "Publish Settings". Click it. To confirm the publication of your story, click "Publish Now".

Note: If you’ve set a password, this button will read "Publish Private Story".
